Facility Case Study - Advantage Indoor
Check out the dramatic transformation Sports Interiors was able to make at the Advantage Indoor Club in Houston, Texas. Our team was tasked with installing both our indirect LED Lighting System and reflective Liner System over the indoor tennis courts. Our work was part of a much larger renovation project at the facility that included court resurfacing, new finishes around the tennis facility, and the addition of ceiling fans provided by Humongous Fans.
We wanted to offer some insight into the process involved with this project as it included different companies all working under a tight deadline and required a certain order of operations to deliver an efficient installation and dramatically improved facility.
With regards to the order in which our systems were installed, it was important that our crew installing the new LED lighting began first so that any remnants of the electrical work could then be hidden behind the Liner System. One of the benefits of our Liner System is that it covers up conduit and wiring located in the ceiling and walls. We also installed our LED System prior to the Liner System so we could effectively position our fixtures in a manner to ensure not only an increase in light levels, but an even distribution of light across the playing area.
Due to these considerations, it was vital that Sports Interiors and Humongous Fans coordinated schedules and installation plans prior to work starting. The team at Humongous Fans were incredibly easy to work with and were very knowledgeable about the strategy working in the facility and what they would need to get the work completed. Our electrical team met with their representative on the job site at the start of our work and everything moved smoothly and efficiently to allow for a successful implementation.
Once our lighting crew completed their portion of the project, our liner crew began installation of our Liner System on the ceiling, end walls, and gable walls.
The original structure of the indoor tennis court area had skylights built into the roof which resulted in natural light coming through during the day and a darker appearance in the evenings. In addition to installing our Liner material over the buildings structure, our crew covered the skylights with a film-like material to ensure no light could pass through to the indoor tennis court area any longer.
In addition to the installation of the LED Tennis Lighting, Liner System and Humongous Fans, the facility was also resurfacing their indoor tennis courts. We applied floor protection along each stage of the project to limit any possibility of damage being incurred to the tennis courts.
As with any of our projects, once the work was finished, our teams complete a detailed punch list walk-through where the installation took place to ensure the club and its staff have no questions or issues with the finished product and to ensure everyone is happy with the finished work. Light levels were taken both at the start and at the end of the project and the transformation completed by Sports Interiors resulted in a 155% increase in light levels across all areas.
