Facility Case Study - Junior Tennis Champions Center (JTCC)
Junior Tennis Champions Center (JTCC) was founded in 1999 on an area of 15 acres of Maryland parkland adjacent to the main campus of the University of Maryland. JTCC was selected by the USTA as the first Regional Training Center for its high performance program. It offers an exceptional 32-court tennis facility featuring indoor, outdoor, hard, red and green clay courts. The facility is also used by the University of Maryland Women’s Tennis Team for training sessions and their home matches.
Part of the JTCC campus includes 3 fabric structure buildings that house their 15 indoor tennis courts. One of the priorities for the facility was to install a proven LED Lighting System that would dramatically increase light levels. In addition to the priority of improving light levels, JTCC is one of the busiest facilities in the country and they needed to work with a company that has the ability to quickly remove the old lighting, dispose of it, and implement the new lighting system while minimizing disruption to facility operations.
Due to Sports Interiors’ experience of helping close to 300 indoor tennis facilities improve the indoor tennis playing experience, JTCC chose us for the job of improving their lighting. In addition, we have the track record of our LED System performing very well in fabric structures.
Before the installation of the new lighting, light levels at JTCC averaged about 30 foot candles. After installation of the Sports Interiors LED Lighting, light levels averaged 80 foot candles.
