We wanted to share information about the dramatic transformation Sports Interiors were able to deliver at the Lakewood YMCA in Lakewood, New York. Our team was asked to install both our indirect LED Lighting System and reflective Liner System over the indoor tennis courts. Our work was part of an initiative to:
move away from a direct lighting application
clean up the aesthetics of the ceiling area
save money on energy and maintenance costs
increase light levels and evenly distribute light across the playing area
We wanted to offer some insight into the process involved with this project.
With regards to the order in which our systems were installed, our crew initially removed and disposed of the existing lighting system and piped for new locations as we installed our LED fixtures along the pitch of the ceiling to ensure not only increased light levels, but even distribution of light. This work took about 3-4 days to complete.
The next step in the process included our crew installing our Liner material on the ceiling over all 5 indoor tennis courts. This is a much more labor-intensive part of the project. (click here to learn more about our installation process)
Light levels increased by an average of 115%. Light levels before we began any work were at 38 foot candles and after all work was completed, they were at an average of 82 foot candles. Another notable takeaway was that the average variance in light dropped from 87% to 18%, which means there were much more consistent light levels across the playing area of the courts.
